Holland: No updates on any injuries. We’ll have to wait till everyone gets here tomorrow

DETROIT — In a quick phone interview, Wings general manager Ken Holland had no updates to report on the injuries of Jakub Kindl (upper body), Nicklas Lidstrom (foot bone bruise), Todd Bertuzzi (groin strain), Pavel Datsyuk (knne) and Jimmy Howard (groin strain).

“No updates on any injuries, today was a day off,” Holland said. “We’ll have to wait till everyone gets here tomorrow.

“We sent (Chris) Conner back because (Grand Rapids is) in a playoff race and they play tonight and we have today off and don’t play again till Friday,” Holland added. “We’ll go to the rink tomorrow and asses everybody and if we need anyone back we’ll call them back tomorrow night.”

Wings send Conner back to Grand Rapids

DETROIT — Chris Conner was sent back to Grand Rapids.

Conner was recalled to replace Todd Bertuzzi (groin) in the lineup Tuesday.

Conner, who was up for a six-game stretch in December, broke his left hand on Dec. 13.

Kronwall won’t be suspended for hit on Voracek

DETROIT — The NHL won’t suspend Niklas Kronwall for his hit on Philadelphia’s Jakub Voracek in Tuesday’s 3-2 loss.

Kronwall knocked Voracek out of the game with his shoulder check midway through the second period that caught the forward in the head.

“The way I felt about it at the time was he was coming up along the boards and I took a stride forward,” Kronwall told reporters after the game.

He was not penalized for the hit.

“Kronner is a competitive guy, he’s out there playing hard,” Wings coach Mike Babcock said. “I don’t think he did anything wrong. He doesn’t want anyone to get hurt, I don’t want anyone to get hurt.”

Kronwall delivered a similar hit to the Flyers’ Daniel Briere earlier this season.

“Those are tough hits, but it’s part of hockey,” Babcock said.

Many Flyers after the game felt the hit was clean.

“It was a good hit and I didn’t really see if it was a head shot or not, but Kronwall is pretty good at those hits,” Flyers forward Claude Giroux said.

“It’s a defensemen stepping up on a forward, Flyers coach Peter Laviolette said. “It was hard to tell, when you go back and look at it, it was clearly the head, which is tough. That’s the area that’s supposed to be safer this year and he got popped right on it.”
