DETROIT — Wings general manager Ken Holland didn’t have an update on either Patrick Eaves or Darren Helm.
“They took pictures (on both of them),” Holland said. “We’ve gotten nothing back. We’ll see how they feel when they come in (Friday).”
Eaves was injured midway through the first period of Wednesday’s Winter Classic on a retaliatory crosscheck to the neck by Toronto’s Joffrey Lupul.
The Wings forward had tests done to determine if he has a concussion and never returned to the game.
Eaves missed more than a year with a concussion after he was hit in the jaw with a puck.
Lupul will have a disciplinary hearing with the league on Friday for his actions.
Lupul has been suspended before, two games, for a head shot on Tampa Bay’s Victor Hedman.
Helm took the pre-game skate Wednesday, but was scratched with a sore groin.
It was the 26th game Helm, who had just returned from a left shoulder injury, has missed due to injury this season. He has seven goals and four assists in 16 games.
Various injuries over the last two seasons have sidelined Helm. When he returned to the lineup on Nov. 2 he had played just two games over the last 19 months.
Holland said that Jonas Gustavsson (groin) won’t be available for Saturday’s game in Dallas, but they’re hoping he’ll be ready for Thursday in San Jose.
