Ins and outs … Tootoo returns from GR and will play Thursday

DETROIT — Jordin Tootoo was recalled from Grand Rapids and will be in the lineup according to Wings general manager Ken Holland.

“Tootoo is playing (Thursday) because we’re trying to win a game and we think he’ll provide some energy and physicality,” Holland said in a text message.

He’ll likely take Mikael Samuelsson’s spot in the lineup. Samuelsson has been a healthy scratch in three of the past five games.

The Wings were still missing a number of injured players at practice: Gustav Nyquist (groin), Henrik Zetterberg (back), Johan Franzen (concussion-like symptoms), Jimmy Howard (knee), and Stephen Weiss (groin).

Daniel Alfredsson also missed practice, but will play Thursday.

“That’s what happens when you’re 41 or 42, you get some days off,” Wings coach Mike Babcock said.

Darren Helm (shoulder) and Danny DeKeyser (shoudler) both took part in practice, but won’t play Thursday.
