DETROIT — Tomas Jurco heard from his former coach and former Detroit Red Wing Gerard Gallant after scoring his first NHL goal in Tuesday’s 5-2 loss to Anaheim.
“Gerard texted me,” Jurco said. “I know how many he scored. I always made fun of him that it wasn’t too hard playing with (Steve) Yzerman. Just rebound all his shots. Now I get play with (Pavel) Datsyuk, so I can’t say anything.”
Gallant, who coached Jurco while he was with the Saint John Sea Dogs of the QMJHL, had 225 goals with the Wings.
