DETROIT — The Detroit Red Wings are close to reaching a contract extension with Jonathan Ericsson according to a source.
The deal, which was first reported by Bob McKenzie of tsn.ca, is either a four- or five-year deal worth around $4 million a season.
Ericsson is in the final year of his deal that pays him $3.2 million a year.
He’s scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in July.
Ericsson’s agent, Craig Oster, said they’re continuing discussions with the team.
