Wings GM Ken Holland says Todd Bertuzzi’s mono test came back negative; Ericsson’s status still unknown

Wings general manager Ken Holland said Todd Bertuzzi’s test for mononucleosis was negative.

“He has no mono,” Holland told The Macomb Daily in a phone interview prior to the Wings’ game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. “It was a false alarm. So he just had the flu over the weekend.”

Holland said Bertuzzi will skate Tuesday morning, but doesn’t anticipate the forward playing until Friday at home against the Minnesota Wild.

“We’re thinking he’s going to play Friday,” Holland said. “We don’t except him to play tomorrow. The plan is right now for him to skate tomorrow and he’ll play Friday, but we’ll talk to him after the skate and see how he feels.”

Holland said he still didn’t know if defenseman Jonathan Ericsson will be play tonight against the Blue Jackets. He would know more prior to the pre-game skate.

Ericsson injured his shoulder at practice Sunday, stepping on a puck and slamming into the boards.
