— Valtteri Filppula scored the lone goal for Team Howe, “I thought Fil scored a great goal going to the net, which was great to see,” Wings coach Mike Babcock said.
— “You don’t help out the pace of a scrimmage by skating them into the ground for 45 minutes before they get out there,” Babcock said. “The scrimmage isn’t near as important to me as the practice. If you ask the scouts and the (general) manager they like that better. I’ll evaluate those things in exhibition.”
— “He’s a good puck mover,” Nicklas Lidstrom said of his new blue linemate Ian White. “He seems to be open most of the time, trying to find himself an open spot. He can move the puck and find the open lanes. It’s going to be kind of a learning curve for us to get to know each other. We need to read off each other. Whether he’s stepping up at the blue line or he wants to be aggressive in the corners. Just little things like that we have to adjust off each other in different situations.”
