TRAVERSE CITY — Kris Draper missed another day of training camp Monday morning in Traverse City with a groin injury.
He did however talk with the media about the injury.
“It’s OK,” Draper said. “It’s still bad enough to keep me off the ice again. It’s frustrating and disappointing.”
“You train so hard this summer and felt good coming into camp conditioning wise,” Draper said. “It was a freak thing.”
Draper’s injury occurred on the second shift of his first intra-squad scrimmage Saturday Centre I.C.E. Arena in Traverse City.
His left leg got pulled out after getting tied up with a player in front of the net. He felt the pull in his groin right away.
“The one thing Piet (Van Zant) said it was a good thing there was contact and it was contact injury,” Draper said. “It’s better than if I was out there skating and doing practice with no one around me and pull it.”
