DETROIT – Johan Franzen skated for roughly 30 minutes with the team, but has been ruled out for Thursday’s game with an upper-body injury.
It’ll be the fourth game he’s missed in the last five.
“I don’t know what the schedule is on Mule, I just know he’s not feeling good,” Wings coach Mike Babcock said after practice Wednesday.
Ericsson practiced for the first time with teammates after suffering an injury on Oct. 19.
“It feels good right now, I can do pretty much anything on the ice,” Ericsson said. “It’s just a matter of seeing how much I can take, all the hits and bumping. That’s the only question mark.”
One good thing of his being sidelined was the amount of time he’s got to spend with his newborn daughter, Liv.
“Evelina (his fiancée) has been grateful for me to be able to stay home and kind of help out as best as I can,” Ericsson said. “It’s been good for me to spend extra time with the little one. It’s been good for me, too.”
Goalie Jonas Gustavsson (neck) said he’s ready to come off short-term injured reserve and backup Jimmy Howard Thursday.
Defenseman Brendan Smith (shoulder) did not skate.
