DETROIT — Quick update from Joe Louis Arena.
The Wings have signed free agent defenseman Kent Huskins to a one-year, one-way deal to help fill the void left by the injuries to Carlo Colaiacovo, Jonathan Ericsson and Jakub Kindl on the blue line.
Huskins played last season with the St. Louis Blues, appearing in just 25 games due to injuries. He collected two goals and seven assists.
Huskins, who has also played with Anaheim and San Jose, has played in 299 games and had 13 goals and 54 assists.
Mikael Samuelsson will miss tonight’s home opener with a groin injury.
Gustav Nyquist will take his spot on a line with Valtteri Filppula and Johan Franzen. He will also play on the power play.
