DETROIT — Pavel Datsyuk is the first Detroit Red Wing to find employment for the upcoming season.
Datsyuk signed to play in Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League with Ak Bars Kazan according to Russia’s Sport Express.
The owners locked the players out as of midnight since a new collective bargaining agreement could not be reached.
He will return once the lockout ends.
Many other Wings are expected to sign overseas as well.
Datsyuk played with the same club before he came to the NHL.
During the 2004-05 lockout, Datsyuk played the entire season for Dynamo Moscow.
