DETROIT – And know the Wings wait.
Detroit has submitted an offer to Zach Parise’s agent, Don Meehan, and hope to hear back later tonight of Monday on whether they’re in the running to sign him.
The Wings originally were going to meet with Parise and his agent in person on Sunday, the first day of free agency, but because just about every club in the NHL wanted to meet with the top-prized unrestricted free agent forward Meehan canceled all meetings and told teams to submit offers by phone.
It’s believed that Parise is looking for $12 million per season in bonus money for the first two years of the deal.
The Wings have also reportedly made an offer to the defenseman Ryan Suter, the top-prized unrestricted free agent on the blue line.
