Suter will test out free agency

Ryan Suter will indeed test out free agency that begins at noon on Sunday, that’s according to his agent.

That’s got to be good news for the Wings to hear as they’re trying to replace Nicklas Lidstrom.

Here is the story from tsn.ca

Ryan Suter’s agent says the Nashville Predators defenceman will be hitting the NHL’s free agent market.

Neil Sheehy told The Associated Press on Saturday that he doesn’t know where Suter will sign, but added the player will keep the Predators “in the mix.”

Free agency opens at noon Sunday with Suter heading a short list of marquee players expected to be available. Also potentially on that list is New Jersey Devils captain Zach Parise.

Detroit, Tampa Bay, Anaheim and Edmonton are among the teams expected to have interest in the 27-year-old Suter.

The seven-year NHL veteran with the hard-hitting style had a career-best 46 points (seven goals, 39 assists) last season.
