NHL salary cap rises to $70.2 million

For an eighth straight season the NHL salary cap his rose.

This year the cap rose to $70.2 million, up from $64.3 million last season.

The Wings currently have 19 players signed for next season at a salary-cap hit of $46.1 million.

That includes defenseman Brendan Smith and forward Gustav Nyquist, both who are on two-way contracts.
