DETROIT – Wings coach Mike Babcock feels he’ll have grinding forward Darren Helm back for Game 2 of their opening round series against the Nashville Predators.
“I think he’ll play in Game 2 for sure,” Babcock said. “You know he’s been flying around (in practice). As soon as he got on the ice two or three days ago – I think it’s his third day now – right away it increases the opportunity to comeback just because of the fact that he gets excited about it and it doesn’t hurt as much as you thought it might and you get the brace on and it’s not as bad as you thought the brace was going to be, they’re all positives for us.”
Helm has been out since suffering a sprained MCL in San Jose on March 17. He has missed the last 10 games.
Babcock also expects to have Danny Cleary back by Game 1. He’s missed the last two games with a knee injury.
