DETROIT — The Detroit Red Wings will have a conference call this morning to announce that defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom will return for a 20th season.
The Detroit Red Wings website confirmed that Lidstrom has signed a one-year deal with the club.
On the call will be Lidstrom and general manager Ken Holland.
Lidstrom, who turned 41 in April, is a finalist for the Norris Trophy. He has won the award given to the league’s top defenseman six times.
Lidstrom, who was second in points among all defensemen with 62 and tied for fourth in goals with 16, is the only Wing to play all 82 games each of the past two seasons.
