DETROIT — Johan Franzen was back on the ice with his teammates Tuesday afternoon for the first time since taking the pre-game skate prior to Game 4 of the Wings’ opening round series with the Phoenix Coyotes.
Franzen skated with the team for roughly 10 minutes before leaving.
Wings coach Mike Babcock was unsure of Franzen’s status for Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals.
“I didn’t spend a whole lot of time looking at him,” Babcock said. “He was out there skating and that’s a start.”
The Wings won’t know the start date of their next series until after Game 7 of the Vancouver-Chicago series, which is being played later tonight.
“We’ll see (if he’s ready) when we start,” Babcock said. “We’ll see how he does and how he responds and go from there. When he’s ready he’ll play.”
Ruslan Salei did not practice Tuesday. He is expected ready for Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals.
“He’s got a boo boo,” Babcock said.
